Sugarcane Genetic transformation

Target

My laboratory has the goal to develop an efficient protocol to nuclear and plastid transformation of sugarcane. Different varieties are being tested for plant regeneration in tissue culture and transformation. We are using biolistic and Agrobacterium methods for transformation. The genes of interest are related to insect resistance for improving agronomic trait and also genes related to photosynthesis identified in the SUCEST databank related to improved sugar content.
